Images of Nature made with Money

Opens November 18, 2018  7:00- The Curtis Steiner Gallery – 5349 Ballard Ave. Seattle

The relationship between money and nature is the theme I have chosen for my work this year.  I have used money from all over the world, to cut and create shadow boxes and also a few three-dimensional pieces. While working on this group I find myself thinking about the beauty of the natural environment and it’s breakdown for profit.

Most of my recent work has been three-dimensional and free standing.  Assembling my work in shadow boxes has been challenging in some ways, but very enjoyable.  Another departure for me was using only paper money. I had cut and used money previously, in combination with other papers, but never exclusively.  I have also been a bit surprised and inspired seeing the beautiful graphics and colors.
